Abstract
Digital architecture, as a proceeding architectural style, has caused fundamental evolutions in architectural design and building appearance via applying complex geometries and topologies. Computers and digital tools have truly altered the design process and architectural conception facilitating production of new eye catching forms. Avant-garde architectural forms have emerged from these changes in architectural design geometry which have influenced visual, physical and morphological features of cities. In this article, the impact of digital architecture and various architectural types (topological, isomorphic, motion kinematics, metamorphic architecture, parametric, genetic) on cityscapes of different periods (ancient, contemporary and future cities) is explored. Through these digital tools, the cityscape of ancient cities, which are not available to us today, can be revitalized. Digitally designed urban spaces and forms can influence contemporary cityscapes and urban landscape due to their complex geometry and free forms, assisting cities to become museums of avant-garde architectural elements and attractive magnets for capital and tourism in globalizing world. These digital tools will have a profound influence on future cities with their parametric design, morphological patterns, digital façade fabrication systems and other methods. This paper is mostly focused on digital production of forms and urban landscape by elite groups (designers, planners, digital experts etc) and thus the effects of other economic, policy-making and more procedural aspects of urban design on the final product (city scape, urban morphology etc) are not applied here.

Abstract
Urban morphology, including buildings’ typology and their configuration, affects sky view factor and insolation, which are two of the most influential parameters in urban microclimate. These become even more important in extreme environmental conditions. In this research, challenge was to generate various rule based urban morphologies in a parametric environment. Then, to evaluate them based on mentioned parameters to find the fittest climate responsive morphology. The evaluations are done using grasshopper definitions connected to Ecotect and genetic algorithms in grasshopper in a relatively short computing time. Introducing a high speed and user-friendly environment for designers to introduce forms and evaluate them in several iterations was a main consideration. The tool consists of two parts. First, the generative algorithms to create various rule based morphologies. Second, the analysing algorithms, which find the fittest climate responsive urban morphology based on insolation and sky view factor. As a case study, the program is used on different urban morphologies in Yazd to find the fittest solution. Gaining the maximum sky view factor while having minimum insolation on building surfaces is ideal in hot and arid climate. Anyhow, these two suggest contradicting solutions for urban form. Based on the existing urban fabric in Yazd, various block typologies and their arrangements are generated parametrically. In each scenario, iterations of evaluation find the most suitable ones. After comparing the fittest versions of different types, the most proper building typology, collective arrangement of them and the best orientation are provided as result.

Abstract
Zoning has always been one of the basic tools of land use control available. Zoning is the regulation and restriction of land uses according to a predetermined plan. This paper will present a look at conventional zoning, its origins, the evolution of the zoning, and the scope of zoning types. Regardless of the varieties, most zoning codes can be classified into at least one of the following broad categories: Euclidean zoning, Performance/Impact zoning, Incentive zoning, Form-based zoning and Hybrid Zoning. In this article, a descriptive-analytical method is used to review the existing documents and extract the materials in order to introduce the approach of FBC, its advantages and disadvantages. So, after defining each concept, the Critiques of Euclidean Zoning will be explained and then a new approach of zoning named Form-based Codes will be introduced to develop a better way of zoning in order to select homogenous areas of urban and rural terrain to adopt determined and certain rules of planning.

Abstract
Using the concept of passive cooling systems has been utilized as a solution to improve thermal and wind comfort and to decrease energy consumption and environmental pollution, recently. Modern windcatcher, as its name denotes, is an architectural element which is using the concept of Badgir and combined proper devices to create ventilation in buildings using wind energy, but including modern technology. It means that the modern windcatcher is an improved model of traditional windcatchers and the design of modern windcatchers is based on computations and they have been analyzed and improved, unlike the ancient ones. The current investigation focused on the technology of modern windcatchers to face how modern technology uses various methods to foster the windcatchers' performance. The purpose of this manuscript is to summarize previous studies on the technology of modern wind catchers and gives insight into the application of windcatchers as passive cooling systems. different employed methods to foster the windcatchers' performance.

Abstract
Achievement of thermal comfort in the built environment is one of the human life needs. Many studies have already explored the issues around human comfort in relation to the surrounding thermal environment. However, most of these studies used quantitative methods that fall into the positivist paradigm. Despite the conducive results obtained, many aspects of the thermal comfort are neglected as the nature of comfort is directly associated with the human dimension. Therefore, it is necessary to adopt a different approach such as qualitative and mixed methods to better understand the underlying mechanisms of thermal comfort concept and its achievement. These methods could reveal other aspects of human comfort that have not been considered. However, the application of these methods requires fundamental knowledge of ontology and epistemology. Therefore, this paper reviewed and compared the dynamics of the application of the paradigms in thermal comfort studies and their methodologies. Analytical findings among the methods of studying thermal comfort showed that only quantitative studies were not sufficient to create the applied knowledge in this vein. As this is a human-based field, its methodology should be first selected and then designed in the right way respecting the context where a study is going to be carried out. In this process, qualitative studies can determine contributing factors, then quantitative studies can find the relationships between these factors.

Abstract
The design of religious spaces around the world is of particular importance. Spaces such as churches, synagogues, graveyards, cemeteries, and shrines are among religious buildings. Such spaces are specially designed for each religion and faith. All forms of architecture should be easily reflected in form and space, given the meaning of the word “religion”
(faith, religion, method, tradition, sharia, method, and way [rule of life]) based on the more manifest concepts in religion. The purpose of this study is to investigate approaches and methods for measuring sensory factors in architectural environments, in the form of a review [article] and literature review, on how to measure sentiments in architectural space. Therefore, this study seeks to answer this question: What are the methods for measuring sensory factors in architectural environments? This study is desk research in nature, to define all the issues raised in the theoretical section using a descriptive-analytical method to analyze the content and logical reasoning and collect the required data on the concepts by doing a literature review. Findings indicate that the architecture in the past sought to take advantage of the formal dimensions of religious buildings, such as mosques and churches, as a medium for a spiritual leap into the world of truth and meaning. Religious (sacral or sacred) architecture can also be translated into organizing components to navigate the appearance of phenomena and remember their interior to enhance the spiritual spatial quality. One has to note that the effects of the architectural body and buildings built affect people's minds. Thus, if this issue is ignored, the created space will cause confusion and a negative effect on the minds of the users of the space for sure. In the field of sensory factors in architecture, architects and urban designers can answer most of the hypotheses by using cognitive sciences.

Abstract
Transportation is one of the most important issues in today's cities. Urban trips and their spatial and temporal patterns influence and are influenced by other components and functions of the city. Information and communication technology have evolved rapidly over the last few decades and have influenced urban travel patterns in many ways. Numerous studies have attempted to study the effects of these technologies on transportation and urban travel and to explain the relationship between them. However, due to the lack of sufficient information and the complicated nature of the connection between ICT and travel, there is still speculation about how it will affect the urban travel patterns, and many researchers believe that we can not simply comment on these effects conclusively. Hence, understanding the interaction of ICT and urban transportation is necessary for the planning and management of urban transportation. This study tries to answer the question of what is the relationship between IC and urban travel through a systematic literature review of empirical studies? For this review, 77 empirical published articles were selected and after describing their important features, the main findings of the articles were extracted and categorized into 6 topics based on the effects that ICT can have on urban travels and the relationship between them. The findings showed that the relationship between ICT and urban travel can be in four different modes: a) substitution-reduction, b) synergy-complementary, c) modification, and d) neutrality. ICT can also influence the urban travel pattern and its quantity and quality by providing fragmentation of activities and optimizing the use of the existing transportation systems. The type and severity of effects can vary at different times and places and under the influence of socio-economic factors. The results also indicate that due to the significant increase in ICT use after the Covid-19 pandemic, the severity of its effects on the urban travel pattern has also increased and it is expected that even after returning to normal and in the post-Covid-19 period, the relationship between ICT and the travel patterns will become even more pronounced

Abstract
Today constructing high-rise buildings which consist of a great amount of surface area and also openings is prevalent and is continuing to rise. Therefore, the building’s envelope is among the most important elements that has a great effect on energy consumption and wastage. As a result, Responsive Architecture focuses on the design of the external skin of buildings which can change their physical properties in order to respond to various environmental conditions. These facades can play a significant role in reducing energy consumption produced by fossil fuels and maximizing the use of natural energies. This study aims to simply review and categorize the various solutions provided by responsive architecture in order to reduce energy consumption in contemporary high-rise building skins. To achieve this goal there has to be a clear image presented of the impact of these responsive systems on energy consumption and how they actually function. In this regard, comparative studies on some of the most basic studies concentrated on the subject, and also a few case studies well-known in this area of matter were precisely reviewed with a descriptive-analytical approach. Accordingly, a general assortment of responsive architecture solutions and performance in high-rises were attained and gathered which can be classified into two groups; those applicable for vertical facades including “Kinetic Facades”, “Double-Skin Facades”, “Smart Materials and Windows”, and those for horizontal facades including “Kinetic Roof” and a new type of “Ventilation Stacks and Exhaust Ducts”. These solutions can be operated in combination with each other or for the better performance of another system, depending on environmental conditions. moreover, they can be applied for either new buildings during their construction or even the old ones by installing them separately from the main facade. They can control the energy consumption of the building and minimize the use of mechanical systems by increasing the amount of received solar energy, reducing internal energy wastage, receiving optimum natural daylight, creating natural ventilation, controlling the amount of excess received heat, regulating temperature through energy storage and generating electricity. Responsive architecture solutions show that they can not only make it possible in getting the maximum advantage of renewable sources, but can also extend the useful life of buildings, and produce a quality of experience that reconnects people to the environment and provides delight in their lives.

Abstract
The present study aimed to align the applied approaches to the concept of visual literacy to provide a new list of abilities needed to promote visual literacy. Visual literacy is a cognitive concept that can be promoted using Bloom's revised classification of the cognitive area that has targeted the mastery learning stages. The method of this study is descriptive-analytical conducted in a purposeful logical course using interpretive strategies and logical reasoning based on documentary studies and valid libraries. In this study, Bloom's cognitive classification was examined and four categories of the most important competencies and existing and valid visual literacy standards were analyzed separately. Finally, a new list of abilities needed for individual mastery of visual literacy was presented. Since most visual literacy researchers have described its nature as ability or set of abilities, a new list was called the classification of visual literacy abilities. The results showed that since each of the previous lists has a specific specialized view on visual literacy, they do not cover all levels of the cognitive process and Bloom's knowledge dimensions. Thus, by adopting a comprehensive approach, a list of abilities was proposed that includes six levels of cognitive process (remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, evaluating, and creating) and each level includes four levels of knowledge (factual, conceptual, procedural, and metacognitive). This list can be used in the educational planning of disciplines that their main goal is visual communication. Finally, the topic of one of the architecture courses was examined as an example of the way of applying this classification.

Abstract
Derived from a research work of the same title, this article aims at recognizing the spiritual characteristics of the concept of dynamism and motion in the Iranian traditional architecture as well as its manifestation in the connector spaces of traditional houses. These valuable buildings represent the diversity of movement and stagnation for reaching eternal concepts through reproduction and variation of their elements. An Iranian architect expresses these two concepts of Islamic transcendental goals by contrasting combinations both in form and space. The key questions arising here are: what are the characteristics of movement and stagnation in Iranian traditional houses? What are the concepts of movement and stagnation in the architecture of the connector spaces in traditional houses? To answer these questions, a case study was conducted by combination methods. The required information was collected by desk and field studies. Ten traditional houses in Qazvin were selected as samples. According to the results, the movement both in the form of physical and sensational movements can be identified in traditional Iranian architecture. Physical movement or criteria such as moving in space and eye movement and sensational movement can be analyzed by influencing the feelings of viewers as well as the rest provided by a pause atmosphere.

Abstract
The hedonic valuation method has been considered in various fields by researchers in order to estimate the value of a commodity or the demand for exploitation of a commodity for many years. Besides, the hedonic method has been widely used to identify ‘value’ indicators in the housing market. The need for indicators as the key tool for housing planning is related to the need to prioritize planning. Indicators are also critical to understanding housing characteristics. This article tries to develop a "conceptual model" of value by meta-analyzing the existing theoretical literature regarding the valuing indicators in the hedonic model, which has been done by the
meta-analysis method, uses MAXQDA software and open and axial coding to analyze the texts in order to compile and classify the features that explain the value of housing. The research findings, which are taken from 335 highly cited articles between 2009 and 2019, show that despite the long period of application and theoretical development of the model, there is no theoretical consensus on the explanatory indicators of housing value. So, 7 main categories can be identified in the form of 350 concepts and 5883 codes (including frequency), which can show the range of housing value dimensions, in addition to summarizing the issue. Also, the share of basic structural-physical and peripheral categories, with 53.5 and 25.5 percent, respectively, has the most application in the hedonic housing valuation model. In the two-mentioned categories, the share of variables affecting the residential unit, the building of the property, and access to services and land uses with relative shares of 23.6, 19.2, and 16.5%, is more than other variables. The results show that while the concepts of many explanatory indicators of value are the same, a suitable range of explanatory indicators of housing value can be used in the hedonic model according to the goals and the target community, and this can lead to the formation of indigenous and specific values of a society.

Abstract
The aging of the population in developed and developing countries calls for special attention to improve the quality of life for older people. Meanwhile, one of the key factors influencing the quality of life of older people is their mobility. Most of the previous studies have considered the mobility of younger people while considering the aging of the population, the mobility of older people needs special attention. This research aims to investigate the factors affecting older adults’ mobility in urban spaces. Thus, we examined Sage, Science Direct, Wiley, Taylor and Francis databases. Initially, 300 papers were gathered. In the following steps, after a more detailed review of the content of the papers and the removal of the unrelated ones, 28 papers remained which had the most relevance to the subject, and content analysis was done. The content analysis results show that the factors affecting elderly mobility are personal factors, lifestyle and attitudinal factors, and built environment factors. Finally, the model of the factors affecting elderly mobility is proposed. According to this model, the three factors proposed can affect the mobility of older adults directly and indirectly. Our findings add to the growing research on investigating older adults’ mobility factors. If urban planners get familiar with the factors affecting the mobility of older people in urban spaces, they can lead people to more sustainable modes of mobility and decrease car orientation in urban areas. Therefore, in future policies, the role of all the factors in the mobility of older people should be considered because the restriction of mobility can prevent the active participation of individuals in social activities and ultimately create feelings of depression and social isolation.

Abstract
The damages of COVID-19 to people's lives have highlighted the need for the usage of technologies to improve health. For this purpose, the identification of available technologies could facilitate the fight against COVID-19. This manuscript aims to explore the effective technologies existing in the literature on Interactive Architecture because these technologies are embedded in the daily life of individuals to respond to the real-time needs of people. Therefore, we conducted a scoping review in the Web of Science and Scopus databases, with no time and paper type limitations. Selected papers were categorized based on their content. Also, the guidelines for combating COVID-19 (based on the WHO and the national government tips) were reviewed and categorized. Afterward, the papers that shared the same themes by guidelines were selected to extract the technologies introduced in them. Finally, usage has been proposed for each of the technologies. Also, we examined the effectiveness of the technologies in the proposed sectors by asking about the experts' viewpoints. As result, we found that interactive ventilation, flexible walls, and eHealth technologies could be effective for the promotion of physical health during COVID-19. In that vein, interactive installations (such as interactive furniture) could improve mental health during quarantine by extending the space and providing the opportunity to connect with the outside world. Also, the virtual education environment was the most effective technology for education challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract
One of the main goals of the resilient discourse in the recent urban design literature has been creating resilient places. Urban resilience is defined by the URFs (urban resilience features) for operation and realization in various fields. Due to continuous urban developments, there is a need to revise URFs with a place-based approach. URFs addressed in literature are so diverse that placing them into one single general list creates many contradictions and ambiguities. To reduce or eliminate inconsistencies in the definition of URFs and the qualitative performance of each URF in delivering urban resilience, this paper justifies the key factors for ordering and classifying URFs. In this study, a systematic review of the literature on urban resilience was performed in five stages using the Scopus databases within the 1973-February 2020 period. Then, 16 URFs, using three guidelines based on the corresponding evaluation of place and resilience, were identified and classified into three groups: (1) the intrinsic (internal) characteristics of the constituent components of a resilient system, (2) the behavioral proxies (proactive/reactive) of a resilient system and (3) the resilience-reinforcing attributes of a system in relation to the external environment. This study can shed light on the proper definition of urban resilience and its operational URFs.

Abstract
In recent years, increasing attention has been given to improving the energy efficiency of buildings in order to reduce their environmental impact and operational costs. As a result, multi-objective optimization methods have become an important tool for optimizing building energy performance. This research reviews building performance analysis approaches in a comparative method and results in a systematic overview of the existing multi-objective optimization methods used in the field of building energy performance. This review covers a wide range of optimization techniques, including genetic algorithms (NSGA-II), evolutionary algorithms, particle swarm intelligence algorithms, and other metaheuristic approaches. Furthermore, the review provides a comprehensive analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of each method in different fields such as daylight, ventilation, and thermal performance analysis. In order to achieve the aims of the research alongside reviewing the Scopus scientific database, various relevant studies were investigated. Eventually, this study provides. Eventually, this review identifies gaps in the literature potential in research directions and proposes multiple ways for future research.

Abstract
The study is an exploratory research based on a systematic review conducted qualitatively. It examines recent studies on the growing trends towards design participation in innovation management processes, specifically focusing on one of the main streams of research: design-driven innovation and the innovation of meaning. This research aims to define and introduce the infrastructure of this field. Therefore, the elements of analytical innovation and interpretive innovation are extracted from sources and compared across several parameters. Analytical innovation is characterized by structured and logical approaches, while interpretive innovation involves subjectivity and context. After defining hermeneutics as the science of interpretation, hermeneutic concepts are analyzed and extracted in relation to interpretive innovation in a design workshop. Concepts such as the hermeneutics of discourse, horizon of expectation, fusion of horizons, hermeneutic dialogue, metaphor, and narrative are discussed. To determine the complex relationship between hermeneutic concepts and visual representation design concepts, a bibliographic network of studies in this field was conducted. This included topics like interpretation, communication, phenomenology, design thinking, and human-centered design practice. Looking ahead, hermeneutics is poised to influence cultural inclusiveness, sustainability, ethical considerations, and interdisciplinary collaboration in design. It will also play a fundamental role in shaping digital experiences and fostering responsible innovation. Embracing these possibilities leads to a more holistic and ethically informed approach to design-driven innovation in our evolving world.

Abstract
The central and historical textures of cities have always been considered primary manifestations of a city's history and identity. In recent decades, such textures have received growing attention from urban designers and policymakers through infill development. This study aims to model and design infill development based on urban design and policy-making approaches. The design approach includes four dimensions: objective aesthetics, mental-cognitive aesthetics, functional, and environmental aesthetics. The policy-making method comprises three dimensions: social capital, economic infrastructure, and assessing the situation of the local area. In this study, a mixed-method approach was used to measure and analyze quantitative and qualitative data. Data collection was conducted through interviews with experts in management, planning, and urban design. The discourse analysis technique was employed to refine the data obtained from the interviews and to complete the proposed models. Subsequently, the collected and refined criteria were analyzed based on the opinions of experts using MAXQDA software. The obtained model was then analyzed using MicMac software, considering experts' opinions to understand how the components affect each other, presented in the form of charts and analytical graphs. In the final step, approaches, dimensions, components, and indicators were modeled based on the importance of the components using Sankymatic software. The findings aim to present a practical model for infill development in the central and historical areas of Mashhad, as well as valuable textures of urban hubs, especially in the metropolises of Iran. Analyzing selected components in the modeling of infill development helps to provide effective strategies for valuable and central textures of cities that embody an urban identity. This study, in terms of urban planning (policy-making) and urban design (designing), presents reviews and analyses across different dimensions. Providing a comprehensive and efficient model with proposed solutions tailored to each component with the infill approach is considered a desirable method for developing valuable central and historical textures, particularly in metropolises. To date, no comprehensive model has been presented to explain the indicators of infill development from the perspectives of urban design and urban planning. This study articulates the approaches, dimensions, components, indicators, and corresponding proposed solutions in the form of a research model.

Abstract
This study conducts a thorough literature review to explore the relationship between the physical learning environment and creativity. Addressing a gap in understanding how specific attributes impact creative processes, the research aims to inform the development of innovative learning environments. Using a four-step methodology, the study involves selecting relevant articles, creating a classification framework, analyzing environmental factors' effects on learning, and interpreting findings to elucidate the correlation between physical attributes and creativity. Bibliometric analysis reveals growing scholarly interest in creative spaces. Findings emphasize the substantial impact of elements like furniture flexibility, resource accessibility, and lighting conditions on creative thinking. Key themes highlight critical factors like lighting, furniture arrangement, and diverse roles of environmental elements, contributing to enhanced cognitive performance. The study underscores the potential of optimized learning spaces to nurture creativity, promote problem-solving skills, and stimulate innovation. By enriching knowledge on the influence of physical environments on creativity, this research provides valuable insights for educators, designers, and policymakers aiming to create inspiring and effective learning environments.

Abstract
Medical plants gardens are places that primarily focused on the conservation, cultivation, research, and education of plant species that are used medicinally. These gardens have a long history. The creation of a tranquil and pleasant conditions for the visitors, as well as development of the local economy and raising citizen awareness, could be further objectives of the medicinal plants garden. Therefore, the architectural style of successful herbal botanical gardens needs to reflect a broad understanding of botany and encourage creative thinking in garden design and interpretation. It seeks a design that can maintain the virtuous cycle of the medicinal plants and at the same time maintain the spatial equilibrium of the dynamic development of urban landscapes, so as to make them have good ecological and urban functions. The aim of this study is to explore the design methods of plant landscaping in urban medical plants gardens under the concept of sustainability. We first reviewed the design of medicinal plants garden and its application to urban green space design. This research focuses on how to select principles that are adapted to the sustainability and how to promote biodiversity, and improve the quality of life of urban residents through eco-design approaches. Through the analysis of a number of domestic and international cases of medicinal plants gardens, we found that effective sustainable design is not only choosing the right areas but also includes the rational management of water resources, energy conservation, environmental impacts reduction, and creating a calm space and increasing the awareness of citizens. This study also points out socio-cultural challenges and strengths of these gardens. Finally, this paper carries out a specific analysis of the sustainable evaluation system for design of medicinal plants landscaping in urban green spaces and experimentally verifies that, compared with other styles, sustainable architecture style is better overall. This study aims to provide a practical reference and guidance for urban planners, garden designers, and environmentalists.

Abstract
Statement of problem: due to the weakened social life and residence function in historical fabrics, they have absorbed attention as the social and identity heart of the city. A part of each city's identity is composed of narratives concerning the roots, influential figures, as well as prominent processes and activities, most of which have occurred in historical centers. Preserving and reinforcing the historical fabric of Yazd requires a comprehensive multidimensional approach, requiring the recognition of the previous socio-economic structures of the fabric, and valuing it once more as a part of the solution. Therefore, the present study aimed to find an answer to the question of what lessons can be gained from the social relation narratives of economic activities and professions in historical fabrics of Yazd and how they can be used in the regeneration of the neighborhoods. The purpose of the study was to find lessons from the social relation narratives and economic activities and professions of the fabric and to show how these narratives can be used in the planning of different regeneration approaches of historical fabrics. The research was conducted using an interpretive paradigm with a qualitative approach, historical methodology, and narrative. According to the results, a feature that has distinguished Yazd city from other cities in Iran is that the people from different religions have peacefully lived together; followers of all religions have contributed to making valuable physical elements. Moreover, women from different religions have been involved in architectural activities. The neighborhoods were socially connected. The elders were the leading social figures in each neighborhood, who were volunteers in public affairs, including the creation of neighborhood facilities and services, as well as helping the poor and people in need, and played a prominent role in the economic, social, and management activities of the neighborhood. Today, any act to reconstruct the historical neighborhoods needs to be based on “reinforcing social life and the resident’s behavioral systems” and “the use of popular management, revival and improvement of the elders in the neighborhoods, and reviving the old professions to their modern versions and according to the needs of the time as a manifestation of economic and social empowerment of the historical fabrics”. At the end, the study presented how “narratives” can be used for “planning” in different approaches of regenerating the historical fabrics.
