Abstract

Generally, human resources play an important role in manufacturing systems as they can affect the work environment. One of the most important factors affecting the human resources is being an interactional interest among the workers in the workshops. If the workers in a manufacturing cell have the highest surface of the interactional interest level, it causes a significant raise in coordination and cooperation indicators and in long time periods. In this paper, a new concept of being an interactional interest between workers in a manufacturing cell besides the ability to work with its machines is proposed and a bi-objective mathematical model to carry out this new point of view in cellular manufacturing systems is presented. Applying the ε-constraint method as an optimization tool for multi-objective mathematical programming, a comprehensive numerical example is solved to exhibit the capability of the presented model.

Abstract

In today's competitive market, quality has an important role in manufacturing system. The manufacturers attempt to maintain their production system in a proper condition to produce high quality products. One of the key factors to achieve this goal is maintenance policy. Most studies on maintenance focused on machines and less attention has been paid to human resources as the most important factor in manufacturing system. In this paper we propose a mixed integer nonlinear model to schedule the maintenance of machines and rest of human resources based on reliability factor. This model aims to minimize the cost of machines and human resources idleness and products quality cost. The performance of proposed model was examined by two instances and the obtained results indicated this model can provide efficient and effectiveness work and rest schedule for machines and human resources in manufacturing systems.

Abstract

The main objective of the present survey is to conduct a comparative analysis of the challenges of the performance evaluation system in two private and public sectors and their impact on effectiveness of human resources management practices. This survey was conducted using the field-descriptive method. The historical study method was used to collect theoretical subjects and the field study method was applied to answer the research questions and confirm or reject the research hypotheses. Statistical population of the research included all experts and managers at various levels in two private and public sectors of the petrochemical industry. Cluster-stratified sampling method in two phases was utilized. According to the results of the present survey, there is a significant difference among identified challenges in the performance evaluation system in two private and public sectors of the petrochemical industry. Results demonstrate that the effectiveness level of human resource management practices in the performance evaluation system is higher than the average level in the public sector, effectiveness level of human resource management practices in the performance evaluation system is lower than the average level in the private sector of the petrochemical industry, and there is a significant difference between the effectiveness level of human resource management practices in the performance evaluation system in two private and public sectors of petrochemical industry. Studying the impact of existing challenges in the performance evaluation system on effectiveness of human resource management practices shows existence of a significant and reversed relation among the existing challenges in the performance evaluation system and effectiveness of human resource management practices in this regard.

Abstract

Achieving optimal production cycle time for improving manufacturing processes is one of the common problems in production planning. During recent years, different approaches have been developed for solving this problem, but most of them assume that mean quality characteristic is constant over production run length and sets it on customer’s target value. However, the process mean may drift from an in-control to an out-of-control at a random point in time. This study aims to select the production cycle time and the initial setting of mean quality characteristic, so that the expected total cost, consisting of quality loss and maintenance costs as well as ordering and holding costs, already considered in the classic models is minimized. To investigate the effect of mean process setting, a computational analysis on a real world example is performed. Results show the superiority of the proposed approach compared to the classical economic production quantity model.

Abstract

Public transportation has been one of the most important research fields in the two last decades. The purpose of this paper is to create a schedule for public transport fleets such as buses and metro trains with the goal of minimizing the total transfer waiting time. We extend previous research works in the field of transit schedule with considering headways of each route as decision variables. In this paper, we formulate the problem as a mixed integer linear programming model and solve it using ILOG CPLEX solver. For large-scale test instances, we develop a metaheuristic based on the scatter search algorithm to obtain good solutions in a reasonable CPU run times. Finally, in the computational section, the efficiency of the proposed model and developed algorithm are compared with the existing results in the literature on a real railway network.

Abstract

this article proposes a new algorithm for finding a good approximate set of non-dominated solutions for solving generalized traveling salesman problem. Random gravitational emulation search algorithm (RGES (is presented for solving traveling salesman problem. The algorithm based on random search concepts, and uses two parameters, speed and force of gravity in physics. The proposed algorithm is compared with genetic algorithm and experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has better performance and less runtime to be answered.

Abstract

Todays, the variety of new products will raise the competition between manufacturers. Product portfolio management (PPM) as a suitable tool can influence the customer’s taste and increase the profit of firms. In this paper, the factors of PPM, production planning and a two-player continuous game theory are considered simultaneously. Some constraints are also assumed such as the availability of raw materials and the demand of each product based on some criteria. Two firms have same offered products and compete with each other. The relationships between two producers will be modeled by a non-zero two- player game. A numerical example is presented too. The proposed model is single period that the inventory is equal to zero in the start and finish of period. The objective functions show the profit of products and the constraints are included the utility of products for each customer, the market's share as a function of the probability of customer selection for each section, the type of distribution function for sale quantity, the accessible quantity of the sum of used materials by two producers and etc.
The results shows that demand changing effects on the profit of two players, but effects more on the second player. Also the sale price changing effects on the profit of two players, but effects more on the first player. The obtained data shows that if extra sale price increase the profit of first player will increase while the profit of second player is constant approximately.

Abstract

Innovation is an essential tool for the supply chain to gain its competitive advantage and improve its performance. Many researchers have remarked that supply chain innovation is a vital tool for improving the performance of a supply chain and can be very productive. This research attempts to identify and analyze the effective factors on the innovation supply chain in the health sector. The effective factors on the innovative supply chain were extracted by reviewing the literature, similar studies, and experts’ surveys. In this regard, 49 criteria were determined in eight dimensions. Intuitive fuzzy DEMATEL (IFD) and AHP methods were used to determine the weight and the relationships between them. The results indicated organizational innovation as the most important dimension, government support innovation as the most effective dimension, and process innovation as the most affected dimension. Some researchers believe that this period guarantees the survival and success of service organizations in this competition. However, the logistics and communication network of a business is required as a new and innovative landscape to use the competitive advantage opportunities to perceive the global era.

Abstract

This paper considers a customer order scheduling (COS) problem in which each customer requests a variety of products processed in a two-machine flow shop. A sequence-independent attached setup for each machine is needed before processing each product lot. We assume that customer orders are satisfied by the job-based processing approach in which the same products from different customer orders form a product lot (job). Each customer order for a product is processed as a sublot (a batch of identical items) of the product lot by applying the lot streaming (LS) idea in scheduling. We assume that all sublots of the same product must be processed together by the same machine without intermingling the sublots of other products. The completion time of a customer order is the completion time of the product processed as the last product in that order. All products in a customer order are delivered in a single shipment to the customer when the processing of all the products in that customer order is completed. We aim to find an optimal schedule with a product lots sequence and the sequence of the sublots in each job to minimize the sum of completion times of the customer orders. We have developed a mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) model and a multi-phase heuristic algorithm for solving the problem. The results of our computational experiments show that our model can solve the small-sized problem instances optimally. However, our heuristic algorithm finds optimal or near-optimal solutions for the medium- and large-sized problem instances in a short time.

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between family ownership, board composition, and the performance of family businesses, with a focus on unlisted family enterprises. While much attention has been given to studies on listed family firms versus non-family firms, unlisted family businesses play a significant role in economies worldwide. The research used the PRISMA statement 2020 to select relevant articles and employed VOS viewer software for data analysis. The results reveal four significant research areas: interlocking directorates, family ownership, board composition, and performance of unlisted firms. Interlocking directors positively influence the performance of unlisted family firms, and the presence of knowledgeable board directors positively impacts strategic planning decisions. Notably, differences arise between family firms led by the first generation and those by subsequent generations. Independents and affiliates on the board enhance performance when the first generation runs the firm. The findings provide new insights into the role of board directors in the corporate governance of unlisted family businesses.

Abstract

This study aims to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the existing literature on social presence in order to identify significant research works, contribute valuable insights into emerging research areas, and provide an overview of global research trends. The study also aims to assist future researchers in locating relevant information aligned with their research interests. The research employs bibliometric analysis to examine 1962 journal articles published between 1958 and 2022, focusing on various aspects such as publication outputs, co-authorships among authors and affiliated countries, and co-occurrences of author keywords referenced in the Scopus database. Additionally, the study identifies the most active institutions, productive journals, and prolific authors in the field of social presence. Notably, the analysis reveals a consistent increase in cumulative publication numbers from 2014 to 2018, with an annual increment of 100 articles. More than 55% of the total publications originate from researchers based in China and the United States. Moreover, among the top 15 countries, four of their most prolific universities are ranked among the world's top 100 universities. The findings of the bibliometric study highlight that research on social presence predominantly focuses on captivating themes such as e-learning, social media, computer-mediated communication (CMC), and communities of inquiry (CoI). The primary objective of the study is to identify shifts in publication outputs, co-authorships, affiliated countries, and author keywords, thereby unveiling prevailing publication trends within the field of social presence. The scope of the study primarily centres on the identification of trends through bibliometric analysis. The study's findings indicate an upward trend in the publication of articles concerning social presence, which is expected to continue. Furthermore, co-authorship and co-occurrence investigations are undertaken to assess leading countries and frequently employed keywords in the literature.

Abstract

Although the existence of swimming pools is very important for people who need to exercise or just have fun with their families, there are still few studies conducted to explore how to analyze the strategic planning of swimming pool companies in order to grow and develop. For this reason, this research will carry out strategic planning for the company Oasis Pool. The research stage consists of analyzing the internal and external strategies of the Oasis Pool company using the AHP SWOT method. In the second stage, a structural analysis of Oasis Pool's corporate strategy is carried out using the interpretative structural modeling (ISM) method. The results showed that the most appropriate strategy in the development of Oasis Pool's business is a growth strategy. This strategy can be implemented by maximizing fast response services and always maintaining spare parts availability to increase customer satisfaction. Furthermore, the key element of the strategy that will determine the success of Oasis Pool's corporate strategic planning is to maintain fast response to improve service quality. In order to maintain Oasis Pool's business to grow and develop and win the market competition, it is necessary to do the following things such as: design a good work system, active management to make improvements and innovations and keep up with technological developments. The main contribution of this article is to assist swimming pool managers such as Oasis Pool in carrying out effective strategic planning using AHP - SWOT and ISM methods.
