Abstract

There has been a recent development and explosion of interest among academicians across a wide range of disciplines in the use of virtual Class room. Utilization of the virtual class room as a laboratory experimentation for teaching and learning has increased significantly in recent years as development tools for web based applications have become easier to use and computers have become more capable and less expensive. But, does the virtual class-room improve students learning? Herein we describe the results of two experiments conducted on sections of a Manufacturing and Operation Management course [MIME - 3240] at one of the Colleges of Technology in the Sultanate of Oman during fall semester. Two experiments were designed to determine if student learning of Manufacturing and Operation Management course was significantly affected by two treatments: 1) Virtual class room environment for the students of section S2 and 2) Real Class-room environment for students of section S1. The actual final scores of students of section S1 and S2 were compared in order to determine the effectiveness of virtual class room on student learning for the Manufacturing and Operation Management course.

In this study Web-based virtual Class room (WVC) is developed to communicate, to share and to disseminate knowledge from the teacher to student. Further, in this study web based tools are also used to create, store, and manage contents of class room instructions and course material .

Abstract

The dynamic among farmer institutions has essential problems to be addressed, especially regarding the pattern and process of communication interactions developing farmer institutions. Therefore, an assembly of agribusiness information within the communication network of the farmer group is of primary interest for our study. This study aims to analyze the agribusiness network structure of beef cattle farmer groups in Subang Regency, West Java, Indonesia. The Social Network Analysis (SNA) used for discovering communication network structure. Data was collected through interviews using a questionnaire. The census method was used for the sampling technique and UCINET 6 used to analyze the data. The results of the study show: 1) The degree centrality and net draw illustrate the head of farmer groups still plays a role as a source of information for their members even if members can access 1-3 other sources, 2) The closeness centrality average is still high and approaching its maximum. The limitation of this study is that only in quantitative approach. Therefore, it is recommended to conduct further research in a qualitative approach to further analyze the roles play in the networks that can be considered in increasing group social capital.

Abstract

Numerous studies have examined the increasing number of virtual team communication usage, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. However, little research has been conducted on the factors affecting its effectiveness in improving task performance, seeing the virtual team's rapid development today. Therefore, this study examines the effect of direct and indirect employee preferences and organizational support on task performance through virtual teamwork communication. The research method used was a survey of 156 employees in the fields of education, telecommunications, transportation, and health in Banjarmasin city, who work from home, interact with colleagues who also work from home, and with colleagues who work in the office. The analysis was carried out using path analysis. The results showed that employee preferences and organizational support directly affected task performance. Virtual team communication can mediate the influence of employee preferences and organizational support on task performance. The research implies that virtual team communication that runs well can improve work performance. Therefore, it requires collaborative support, both from individuals and the organization.
