Abstract

The cylinder working fluid mean temperature, rate of heat fluxes to combustion chamber and temperature distribution on combustion chamber surface will be calculated in this research. By simulating thermodynamic cycle of engine, temperature distribution of combustion chamber will be calculated by the Crank-Nicolson method. An implicit finite difference method was used in this code. Special treatments for piston movement and a grid transformation for describing the realistic piston bowl shape were designed and utilized. The results were compared with a finite element method and were verified to be accurate for simplified test problems. In addition, the method was applied to realistic problems of heat transfer in an Isuzu Diesel engine, and gave good agreement with available experimental.

Abstract

In this paper the centrifugal pump performances are tested when handling water and viscous oils as Newtonian fluids. Also, this paper shows a numerical simulation of the three-dimensional fluid flow inside a centrifugal pump. For these numerical simulations the SIMPLEC algorithm is used for solving governing equations of incompressible viscous/turbulent flows through the pump. The k-ε turbulence model is adopted to describe the turbulent flow process. These simulations have been made with a steady calculation using the multiple reference frames (MRF) technique to take into account the impeller- volute interaction. Numerical results are compared with the experimental characteristic curve for each viscous fluid. The data obtained allow the analysis of the main phenomena existent in this pump, such as: head, efficiency and power changes for different operating conditions. Also, the correction factors for oils are obtained from the experiment for part loading (PL), best efficiency point (BEP) and over loading (OL). These results are compared with proposed factors by American Hydraulic Institute (HIS) and Soviet :::union::: (USSR). The comparisons between the numerical and experimental results show good agreement.

Abstract

In this research, the life expectancy of ball bearings in industrial applications is estimated based on known parameters. The overall mathematical calculation of such behavior is based on the theory of Lundberg and Palmgren. The proposed life estimation equation however lacks certain points to make it qualified as universal. A firm conclusion therefore could not be obtained on the basis of this equation alone, particularly when different operating conditions are involved. One such example is the life of ball bearings while operating in clean lubricant environment, which is approximately up to 20 times longer than the calculated life based on the previously prescribed equations. On the other hand, active life under contaminated lubricants is nearly close to one-tenth of the calculated life originally thought to be correct .

Abstract

Mobile mechanical manipulators are one of the automation aspects which were revealed in last years of twentieth century. These machines assume the responsibility of human and gradually expand the domain of their activities in industry. This paper is a presentation of the Sweeper Robot designed in the Robotic Laboratory of Iran University of Science and Technology. The original design of this robot allowing to its gripper to constantly remain parallel to the ground is presented. The dynamic and kinematical models of the robot have been computed. A software was developed in MATLAB to validate the kinematical and dynamic models of the robot by comparison with the experimental results. Once the robot was built and its systematic odometric error estimated by experiment, a control scheme for linear motions was developed to deal with this error. The approach is based on the introduction of an initial rectifying offset motion before starting the linear motion. Eventually, classical line tracking and image processing algorithms were used to complete our robot and the efficiency of our design to achieve its mission in picking and placing different objects according to various algorithms.

Abstract

Improvement in supply chain performance is one of the major issues in the current world. Lack of coordination in the supply chain is the main drawback of supply chain that many researchers have proposed different methodologies to overcome it. VMI (Vendor-managed inventory) is one of these methodologies that implementing it has some obstacles. This paper proposes new model that is agent-managed SC. This paper is trying to use intelligent agent technology in the supply chain. In this paper supply chain assessment performance measure indicators have been divided into three categories cost, flexibility and customer responsiveness indicators. In the first category we use holding and backordered inventory costs, for second category, bullwhip effect are used and for the last one customer responsiveness indicator has been applied. Bullwhip effect is one of the main phenomena’s that has been tried to reduce it with the agent-based systems.

Six Sigma is a well- established approach to improve the capability of business processes in order to gain satisfaction of customers. The performance assessment of a given process is essential to some phases of six sigma methodology. So far, different indicators are used to demonstrate the performance of a process, while many organizations tend to report their organizational performance level. Unfortunately there have been few methods on calculating overall performance. This paper introduces a quantitative model that is formulated by focusing on process features. In addition, a number of numerical examples illustrate the performance of our proposed method in comparison to other methods .

Abstract

Having a comprehensive evaluation model with reliable data is useful to improve performance of supply chain. In this paper, according to the nature of supply chain, a model is presented that able to evaluate the performance of the supply chain by a network data envelopment analysis model and by using the financial, intellectual capital (knowledge base), collaboration and responsiveness factors of the supply chain. At the first step, indicators were determined and explained by explanatory Factor Analysis. Then, Network Data Envelopment Analysis (NDEA) model was used. This paper is the result of research related to supply chain of pharmaceutical companies in Tehran Stock Exchange and 115 experts and senior executives have been questioned as sample. The results showed that responsiveness latent variable had the highest correlation with supply chain performance and collaborative, financial and intellectual capital (knowledge base) latent variables were respectively after that. Four of the twenty eight supply chains which were studied obtained 1 as the highest performance rate and the lowest observed performance was 0.43.

Abstract

The manufacturing organizations today are having a competition of supply chain versus supply chain. Existing research work fails to relate human metrics with supply chain performance. The authors intend to empirically assess the effects of human metrics on supply chain performance in the context of Indian manufacturing organizations. A rigorous literature review has identified 12 variables. The variables are individually measured and later on reduced in number by factor analysis. As a pilot study, primary data is collected from 100 manufacturing organizations by means of a questionnaire, both offline and online, which is administered across India and a scale is developed. t-test and factor analysis resulted in 3 factors related to human metrics. The outcomes of the research work provide valuable implications for the Indian manufacturing organizations to understand the factors affecting supply chain performance.

Abstract

In today’s competitive business situation, performance evaluation of firms is an extremely important concern of all the people who are typically stakeholders of the business game. In case of holding companies, this is a more important issue since the parent firm must permanently control the situation of its subsidiaries in their sectors to make appropriate investment decisions. This paper develops a multicriteria decision making (MCDM) approach for evaluating performance of firms considering financial and productivity criteria.. We adopt Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) method to determine the relative importance of evaluation criteria, taking the vagueness and imprecision of human judgments into consideration. Then, we employ the Preference Ranking Organization METHod for Enrichment Evaluation (PROMETHEE) for ranking of firms. Afterward, this paper enjoys benefit of using Technique of Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) to assess the validity of the obtained ranking results. Our approach was applied to a holding company listed in Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE) as a real case. The analysis of ranking results revealed advantages of combining these MCDM methods.

Abstract

The main objective of the present survey is to conduct a comparative analysis of the challenges of the performance evaluation system in two private and public sectors and their impact on effectiveness of human resources management practices. This survey was conducted using the field-descriptive method. The historical study method was used to collect theoretical subjects and the field study method was applied to answer the research questions and confirm or reject the research hypotheses. Statistical population of the research included all experts and managers at various levels in two private and public sectors of the petrochemical industry. Cluster-stratified sampling method in two phases was utilized. According to the results of the present survey, there is a significant difference among identified challenges in the performance evaluation system in two private and public sectors of the petrochemical industry. Results demonstrate that the effectiveness level of human resource management practices in the performance evaluation system is higher than the average level in the public sector, effectiveness level of human resource management practices in the performance evaluation system is lower than the average level in the private sector of the petrochemical industry, and there is a significant difference between the effectiveness level of human resource management practices in the performance evaluation system in two private and public sectors of petrochemical industry. Studying the impact of existing challenges in the performance evaluation system on effectiveness of human resource management practices shows existence of a significant and reversed relation among the existing challenges in the performance evaluation system and effectiveness of human resource management practices in this regard.

Abstract

Nowadays, automakers have faced complexity of supply chain that have to improve procedures and processes in order to access high performance in both strategic and operational. The main purpose of this research is to evaluate model of strategic performance of supply chain (SPSC), which include information technology (IT), organizational learning (OL), and Product innovation (PRI) via qualitative research. In fact, this research follows how these factors effect on SPSC. IRANKHODRO Company (IKCO) as the biggest automaker in Middle East is our case study in order to research and evaluate mentioned model. A total number of 12 interviews were done based on a list of semi-structured open-ended questions in order to evaluate constructs and model. The development of constructs in IKCO according to respondents’ opinion was classified at three categories including high, medium and low levels. In high level, IT has been developed in IKCO more than another constructs, which consists of development of ORACLE system, SAP and KANBAN in order to cover information, procedures and processes across supply chain. While SPSC has been developed less than others.

Abstract

Supply chain management (SCM) is very well known efficient and effective managerial tool to check and analyze the performance of any enterprises. In the present work, efforts have taken to analyze and optimize the performance of small & medium enterprise (SME) in Pune region India. For this purpose a SCM based framework is prepared to get the realistic data from the industries through the questionnaire prepared on the basic of literature and the expert opinions. After finalizing the effective framework fitted to the various enterprises, a data in the pointer scale has been collected from the various stakeholders of the enterprises. The grey relational analysis (GRA), a multi-response optimization tool has been effectively used for getting the optimize result which will help the enterprises to plan the strategies for the betterment of the enterprises. Optimum results were implemented in the other enterprises. The responses were measured and compare with the optimum solution. From the responses, it has been observed that there is a significant enhancement in the response level of the other enterprises. Thus the SCM was effectively used for enhancing the performance of the SMEs in the region.

Abstract

Based on RBV Theory The study investigated the effect of Supply Chain integration (SCI) on medical sector Operational Performance (OP).  the data were collected from 307 managers out of 330 managers, by questionnaire, which adopted from previous studies and refined through experts’ interviews and the panel of judge. Statistical techniques such as descriptive statistics, correlation, and SEM were employed. The results of the study indicated a positive significant relationship between SCI and medical sector OP. The results also indicated that the managers in Medical Sector were almost similar in their preference of the customer integration and internal integration indicators. Furthermore, empirical results indicated that the interactions between the two components of SCI effect strongly on and OP. Results indicated that the internal integration was having the highest effect on OP, followed by customer.
The study shows Theoretical and Practical implications. Theoretically the SCI require higher level of internal integration. Thus, for an institution to support the participation of partners it must create a suitable internal integration. Practically the full collaboration of participation and they integrate the firm internally and externally that should lead to high performance. Moreover, the study provided a suggestion for future research.

Abstract

The study investigates the impact of work environment on organizational performance in Ethiopiachr('39')s Arjo Dedessa Sugar Factory (ADSF) and Finchaa Sugar Factory (FSF), as well as the relationship between physical work environment, work-related risk and injuries, psychological work environment, and social work environment. The total number of people employed in two industries is 867 and 2824. To examine the work-related environment condition, a stratified random sampling technique was used to select a sample of 266 and 338 employees. A 60% response rate has been achieved. Statistical software SPSS V 23.0 was used to analyze and determine the relationship between dependent and independent variables using Pearson correlation and linear regression analyses. The findings show that employees in ADSF have a moderate social work environment compared to those in FSF, but both organizationschr('39') physical work environments are the least conducive. Both ADSF and FSFchr('39')s physical work environments had statistically significant effects on their performance. The suggestion was made to improve the social environment in order to improve the employeeschr('39') psychological health.

Abstract

Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) is a very powerful indicator for the performance evaluation of a manufacturing organization. However, determining the OEE target remains subjective and it’s usually based on the decision of concerned managers. In this paper, we tested the OEE target determination model based on the measured OEE. Such a method is based on the fuzzy logic principle and on two other decision-making support methods. To do this, we began with a literature review on OEE and its constituents. Then, a detailed description of the research methodology and the proposed model is provided. Thus, a case study in a manufacturing agri-food organization was conducted to test the proposed model and validate the obtained results.

Abstract

Forging Industry Supply Chain involves various actors and acts as Industry Intermediate providing various products for downstream industrial customers. This study aims to analyze supply chain performance and recommend improvement strategy at forging Industry. This study applied supply chain operation reference (SCOR) and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) to analyze supply chain performance. A SWOT analysis assisted to improve supply chain performance. The data was validated at PT ABC and PT XYZ as two focal company in supply chain operations of forging industry. The results show that the supply chain performance at PT. ABC 99.42% and 99.05% in 2019 and 2020, respectively.  PT. XYZ showed supply chain performance score as 96.60% and 97.52% in 2019 and 2020, respectively. This study has succeeded in formulating efforts to improve the supply chain performance, namely: producing quality goods according to domestic market specifications, maintaining good relations with suppliers or outsourcing, improving services using high technology.

Abstract

This study intends to evaluate the mediating role of employees performance in the relationship between delegation of authority, organizational functionality, and the decision making process among the employees of police department at Dubai. The study has collected data in the various police stations at Dubai from 380 employees through questionnaires based survey using random sampling technique. The study noted that employees performance has mediating role between the delegation of authority, organizational functionality, and the decision making process among the police employees at Dubai. The results of this research contributed substantially to the current body of knowledge in the domain of delegation of authority in Arab context. The novelty of this study stem from the reality that the issues and problems of power delegation in Dubai police department was assessed in terms of decision-making process.

Abstract

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), being a significant role player the actualization of the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision of 2030, would need to improve and upgrade its performance level and its competitive advantage during this Covid-19 pandemic period. Therefore, this study examined the effects of technology management, innovation and training on organization performance in ADNOC United Arab Emirates (UAE). It also examined the moderating effect of work environment on the relationships between technology management and organizational performance, between innovation and organizational performance, and between training and organizational performance. This study has followed the quantitative method to collect the data and smart-PLS has been used to examine the nexus among the understudy variables. The overall findings signified a positive effect of technology management, innovation, and training on organization performance in ADNOC UAE. The result also indicates the moderating effect of working environment on the relationship between technology management and organizational performance. The overall findings imply that technology management, training and innovation are crucial drivers of enhanced performance, but conducive environment should be ensured to stimulate endured performance.

Abstract

The problem of family businesses in Saudi Arabia is noteworthy due to the large scope of family enterprises in Arab countries. Most organizations established in the Arab world are either state-owned or family owned. Many of these companies were formed by forefathering merchant families that dealt in vital ports along the Gulf and Red Sea coastlines. The current study's primary aim was to determine the challenges and benefits of family business success in Saudi Arabia. The purpose is to discover relevant literature on this critical issue to understand the barriers to the growing family businesses in Saudi Arabia and the potential advantages of family enterprises to the country's economy. The current study used the PRISMA statement 2020 to include and exclude records from the well-known databases Scopus and Web of Science to include high-quality documents. Additionally, the documents were examined via content analysis to determine the classifications of the study. VOS Viewer software analyzes the published literature' content—data clusters created on the text established to group the related ideas. The results indicate that three main themes were identified during the key term's occurrence research: entrepreneurship, family business, and performance. The findings of the study shows that family businesses are an essential aspect of the Saudi economy, contributing heavily to it. Such firms have lately received attention because of their critical role and contribution to job creation and employment, as well as the promotion and encouragement of entrepreneurship in their operations. Furthermore, results showed that it is commonly accepted that the involvement of a family in the business differentiates the family business. It is recommended that family companies be distinguished by their behaviour, which is based on the firm's objective, vision, and mission.

Abstract

Providing skills training is an essential need of different societies. Considering the significance of the role of skill training in empowerment and employment of individuals through the training of skilled labor required by the labor market and industry, in this study the supply chain of skills training has been designed. In the proposed supply chain, according to the skill training aspects, a network structure is conceptualized to include appropriate factors in different layers of the supply chain. Evaluating the performance of the supply chain is handled applying a network data envelopment analysis. Network Data Envelopment Analysis (NDEA) is an efficient method analyzing all the factors included in the evaluation network. Among the NDEA models, the output-oriented BCC model was selected due to the importance of the output of the supply chains of the skills training. In addition to efficiency, the concept of complementary loss is also introduced to validate the results. The research findings show the efficiency of various factors in the stages of the designed network. On the other hand, unlike the classic DEA method, which shows the maximum efficiency of a factor, in the proposed network model, the efficiency priority is calculated and the efficiency is determined at each stage of the supply chain.
