Aims and Scope

The aim of the International Journal of Optimization in Civil Engineering (IJOCE) is to provide a vehicle for publishing information about all aspects of civil engineering optimization. This journal covers a wide range of topics related to:

  • Optimal design of structures,
  • Optimal analysis of structures,
  • Applications of Machine Learning and Artificial Neural Networks in Civil Engineering,
  • Optimization in construction management,
  • Optimal design of hydraulic networks,
  • Optimization in transportation,
  • Optimization of building energy,
  • Other aspects of optimization in civil engineering.

The scope of the journal ranges from mathematical foundations of this field through algorithm and software development with benchmark studies to practical applications and case studies in structural, mechanical, and civil engineering. Closely related fields, such as computer-aided design and manufacturing, reliability analysis, artificial intelligence, system identification, inverse processes, computer simulation as well as active control of structures are also covered by the journal, if the treated topic is linked with or is relevant to optimization.

IJOCE publishes original research papers, review articles, industrial applications, brief notes, book reviews, and conference diaries. It is the official journal of the Centre of Excellence for Fundamental Studies in Structural Engineering in the School of Civil Engineering, Iran University of Science and Technology.
