Using the communication technology of the twenty first century, Virtual Education has been used by different and reputable educational centers in the world. Today, under the name of "Virtual University”, it is possible to offer the educational services in new methods. As a pioneer higher education institute in Iran, by expanding its educational domain, Iran University of science and Technology has established the E-Learning Center in 2004 as one of the first higher education centers in Iran which undertakes to admit and educate students via advanced technology of communication and Internet network. The main objective of this center is to admit and educate students in academic programs by using the electronic techniques (Virtual). Students at this center are formally admitted to the University after having succeeded courses of the first semester.  With the exception of the final examinations in each semester, students can pursue their educational activities electronically and via the Internet.
  Currently, programs offered virtually by the center include undergraduate Computer Engineering and Industrial Engineering programs, and graduate Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, and Architecture programs. 
With the exception of a few courses offered during the summer semester, all E-learning classes are presented and produced electronically. After each class session, students can have limited time access to the online course material; they will also have the opportunity to contact their instructors through email, designated chat rooms, and online classes.
