Due to historical importance of Veresk bridge, long-term monitoring of the bridge is to be carried out for a duration of one year. Veresk is instrumented with strain gauges on different points of the structure, allowing for determination of speed and axle load of crossing trains. The system feeds live data to control center, and is capable of sending SOS whenever excessive speeds or axle loads are detected. The system has been designed such that it could automatically detect significant structural variations, which are then transmitted to control center as distress signals for furthure investigations. The system has been operating since November 2015, and is going to be operational till November 2016.
