Abstract

In this paper we first show that standard BP algorithm cannot yeild to a uniform information distribution over the neural network architecture. A measure of sensitivity is defined to evaluate fault tolerance of neural network and then we show that the sensitivity of a link is closely related to the amount of information passes through it. Based on this assumption, we prove that the distribution of output error caused by s-a-0 (stuck at 0) faults in a MLP network has a Gaussian distribution function. UDBP (Uniformly Distributed Back Propagation) algorithm is then introduced to minimize mean and variance of the output error. Simulation results show that UDBP has the least sensitivity and the highest fault tolerance among other algorithms such as WRTA, N-FTBP and ADP. Then a MLP neural network trained with UDBP, contributes in an Algorithm Based Fault Tolerant (ABFT) scheme to protect a nonlinear data process block. The neural network is trained to produce an all zero syndrome sequence in the absence of any faults. A systematic real convolution code guarantees that faults representing errors in the processed data will result in notable nonzero values in syndrome sequence. A majority logic decoder can easily detect and correct single faults by observing the syndrome sequence. Simulation results demonstrating the error detection and correction behavior against random s-a-0 faults are presented too.

Abstract

This paper addresses the experimental identification of a servo actuator which is used in many industrial applications. Because the system consisted of electrical and mechanical components, the behavior of the system was nonlinear. In addition, the under load behavior of this servo was different. The load torque was considered as the input and a two input-one output model was presented for this servo actuator. Special focus was given in order to present a simple model for this servo actuator. The comparison between simulation and experimental results showed the effectiveness of the propose model. The model can be applied as a reference for characterizing different designs and future control strategies.

Abstract

In this paper, multilayer perceptron neural network (MLP-NN) training is used by the grasshopper optimization algorithm with the tuning of control parameters using a fuzzy system for the big data sonar classification problem. With proper tuning of these parameters, the two stages of exploration and exploitation are balanced, and the boundary between them is determined correctly. Therefore, the algorithm does not get stuck in the local optimization, and the degree of convergence increases. So the main aim is to get a set of real sonar data and then classify real sonar targets from unrealistic targets, including noise, clutter, and reverberation, using GOA-trained MLP-NN developed by the fuzzy system. To have accurate comparisons and prove the GOA performance developed with fuzzy logic (called FGOA), nine benchmark algorithms GOA, GA, PSO, GSA, GWO, BBO, PBIL, ES, ACO, and the standard backpropagation (BP) algorithm were used. The measured criteria are concurrency speed, ability to avoid local optimization, and accuracy. The results show that FGOA has the best performance for training datasets and generalized datasets with 96.43% and 92.03% accuracy, respectively.

Abstract

This paper proposes a novel approach to analyzing and managing electricity consumption using a clustering algorithm and a high-accuracy classifier for smart meter data. The proposed method utilizes a multilayer perceptron neural network classifier optimized by an Imperialist Competitive Algorithm (ICA) called ICA-optimized MLP, and a CD Index based on Fuzzy c-means to optimally determine representative load curves. A case study involving a real dataset of residential smart meters is conducted to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method, and the results demonstrate that the ICA-optimized MLP method achieves an accuracy of 98.62%, outperforming other classification methods. This approach has the potential to improve energy efficiency and reduce costs in the power system, making it a promising solution for analyzing and managing electricity consumption.
